General product information:
Before you delve into this DAC brochure, we would first like to give you some general information about the DAC medications. Our many years of experience have resulted in a number of recurring questions from enthusiasts that could also prove interesting for you, such as:
Why aren’t vitamins mixed by the DAC drugs?
Because vitamins have a shelf life of up to six months in a pack that has been opened, while medicine has a much longer shelf life. There are also vitamins that block the optimal functioning of certain medications. In short: it is better to give good fresh vitamins after a cure.
Why are there on DAC medicines in addition to one dose per liter of drinking water = 20 pigeons or 10 kilos live weight?
It is believed that “20 kilos of pigeons” consume about 2 liters of drinking water per day. However, this is an average value. Because animals when it’s cold drink less and when it’s warm there is more DAC in the drinking water Dosing directly indicates how many grams you need to administer per kilo of live weight (i.e. the amount of drug per animal or per kilo per day ingested for proper operation should be ). If you want to provide medicines via the drinking water, always give them a lot of drinking water that you will surely prepare in a day. This is to prevent you from discarding some of the medicine with a small amount of drinking water, causing your animals to get too little of it. For the sake of completeness: 1 carrier pigeon weighs 400 to 500 grams, so 1 kilo live weight is about 2 carrier pigeons.
Why can the DAC drugs come from both drinking water and feed?
Because we want to give you the opportunity to administer the medicine to your pigeons the way you prefer. However, drinking water medicines (dissolve in the pot) have a great advantage. Pigeons traveling with a transport are exposed to all kinds of infections. Both during such transport and during the flight, the probability that the pigeons will get something is very real. When the pigeons come home, you want to prevent your pigeons that stayed at home from being infected by the house visitors. For this reason, drinking water is strongly recommended. So an ornithosis mixes through the drinking water not only against accumulated germs but also prevents the contamination from being passed on!
Finally, we would like to emphasize an important maxim when administering medication to your pigeons. Pay particular attention to the prescribed doses. One scoop more doesn’t work extra, one scoop less doesn’t work enough!
