Furadoxine is the drug par excellence for the treatment of bacterial infections. Furadoxine is given to treat and prevent the further development of infections already present in the animal (Salmonella, E-Coli).
Dosage:
For prevention during the racing season: 1 measuring spoon (= 5 gr.) For 20 pigeons (10 kg live weight / 1 l.drinking water) for 1 or 2 days, every 2 weeks. Preferably start the day after the game.
As treatment: 1 measuring spoon (= 5 gr.) For 10 kg of live weight for 5-7 consecutive days. This healing can be repeated after a few days if necessary.
Furadoxine is a water-soluble powder, it can also be given over the feed.
In most cases, this product can possibly be combined with other DAC medicines.
Do not combine with bromhexine, linseed or carbadox!

Why are no vitamins mixed by the DAC medicines?
Because vitamins, in a package that has been opened, have a shelf life of up to six months, while the medicine has a much longer shelf life. There are also vitamins that block the optimal functioning of certain medicines. In short: it is better to provide good fresh vitamins after a cure.
Why is there on different DAC medicines besides a dose per liter of drinking water = 20 pigeons or 10 kilos of live weight?
It is assumed that “20 kilos of pigeons” will consume about 2 liters of drinking water per day. However, this is an average. Because animals drink less when it is cold and when it is warm, DAC gives the drinking water dose immediately how many grams you have to administer per kilo of live weight (ie the amount of medicine per animal or kilogram per day, which must be included for proper functioning). ). If you want to provide medicines via the drinking water, always give them in a quantity of drinking water that you are sure will be made up in one day. This is to prevent you from disposing of a portion of the medicine with a small amount of drinking water, as a result of which your animals absorb too little of this. For the sake of completeness: 1 racing pigeon weighs 400 to 500 grams, so 1 kilo of live weight is about 2 racing pigeons.
Why can the DAC medicines be supplied by the drinking water as well as by the feed?
Because we would like to give you the choice to administer the medicine to your pigeons in the way you prefer to provide it. However, drinking water medication (dissolving in the pot) has a very big advantage. Pigeons that go with a transport are exposed to all kinds of infections. Both during such a transport and during the flight itself, the chance that the pigeons get something up is very real. When the pigeons come home you want to prevent that your pigeons that stayed at home via the pot are infected by the home visitors. That is why drinking water medication is highly recommended. So an ornithosis mix through the drinking water is not only to combat any germs that have accumulated, but also to prevent the contamination from being passed on!
Finally, we want to emphasize an important maxim when administering medicines to your pigeons. Pay particular attention to the prescribed doses. One scoop more does not work extra, one scoop less does not work enough!
