The virucidal disinfectant: effective against all 18 virus families. The disinfectant for agriculture. Virkon has a virucidal, bactericidal, fungicidal and cleaning effect on all materials and surfaces.
The disinfectant Virkon®S has been re-evaluated by Wageningen University (CVI Lelystad)
1) to comply with the new EU regulations for Salmonella control. The new EN1656 test protocols were used for the test, which confirmed that Virkon ®S 1% and 0.5% at a temperature of 10°C is effective against the 5 EU-designated Salmonella types to be controlled. These 5 Salmonella types can cause problems in public health, namely: Salmonella enteritidis, Salmonella typhimurium, Salmonella virchov, Salmonella infantis and Salmonella hadar. In a previous study (2003) with the same test protocol, it also has the effectiveness against Salmonella paratyphi B biovar. Java proven.
Due to these excellent results, Virkon®S is the ideal agent to use in Salmonella control, as proven in these EN tests, and in the reduction of the potentially infectious Salmonella super strains.
2) Virkon®S as an oxidizing disinfectant, is not associated with the influence of the mechanism of the bacterium or bacterial wall and the development of Salmonella resistant strains by disinfectants and antibiotics.
3) For effective routine disinfection, DuPont veterinary and technical experts recommend that all cleaning and disinfection procedures should be regularly reviewed and adjusted as necessary. From general wipe clean to the hard-to-reach places such as cracks and seams, and in the selection of the right cleaning agents and disinfectants, in the right doses and properly applied. Extra attention should be paid around the house and the materials that are brought out during the cleaning process. When these are brought back into the stable, it is necessary to prevent contaminated materials from being brought back into the clean stable. This extra attention is also needed for the water system and feeding system which are easily forgotten.
Virkon S ® is a product of DuPont ™ and is legally applicable in the Netherlands and Belgium.
Virkon®S can be used against the fungus, Batrachochytrium dendrobatidis, which causes the skin disease chytridiomycosis in amphibians. By cleaning and disinfecting these effectively, transmission can be prevented.
Virkon® S effective against the cause of Q fever. Virkon S disinfectant has been shown to be effective against the bacteria that can cause Q fever (Coxiela Burnetii). Q fever is a Gram-negative bacterium that is highly resistant to various disinfectants. The low outside temperature during the winter season also influences the effect of many disinfectants. Virkon® S is confirmed to be effective and insensitive to low temperatures.
